RABAT, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan King Mohammed VI on Thursday extended condolences to Tunisian Parliament Speaker Mohamed Ennaceur over the death of President Beji Caid Essebsi at the age of 92, describing him as one of the great men of Tunisia.

"Beji Caid Essebsi has worked seriously and with a spirit of exemplary patriotism to complete and foster the democratic process of his country and strengthen its rebirth and development within the framework of security and stability," King Mohammed VI added in his message.

The Tunisian presidency earlier on Thursday announced the death of President Essebsi, whose health condition deteriorated for the third time in less than a month.

Prime Minister Youssef Chahed had declared seven days of national mourning in Tunisia and gave instructions to postpone any cultural activities or musical shows. Enditem
