WINDHOEK, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's senior men's football team won their 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier second round first leg against Comoros 2-0 in Moroni, Friday afternoon.

Namibia's Interim coach, Bobby Samaria ensured that the team will go into their second leg match on Aug. 4 in Windhoek with a comfortable lead.

"The team was a little unfit because we had a short time to prepare and the weather conditions didn't do us any favor as well but we came here with a belief and exceeded our expectations," said Samaria in a statement on the Namibia Football Association website.

According to Samaria the second leg will be different and has since called on the nation to support the team.

"All I can say is that we will come pushing for an early goal and we will devise a strategy to counter that," he added.

The goals for Namibia came courtesy off the efforts of debutante Elmo Kambindu and captain, Dynamo Fredericks.

Meanwhile, the overall winner between the two will take on the winner of Madagascar versus Mozambique in the third and final round of the qualifiers. Enditem
