THE HAGUE, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Ajax captured the Dutch Super Cup for the 9th time in history after defeating PSV 2-0 in Amsterdam on Sunday.

It took Dutch champions and Cup winners Ajax only 35 seconds to open the scoring against last season's number two PSV in the Johan Cruijff Arena. Donny van de Beek found Kasper Dolberg and the Danish striker had a cool finish.

Dolberg missed a good opportunity for his second goal, but Ajax kept control. Eight minutes into the second half Daley Blind fired home the 2-0 after shots by Van de Beek and Joel Veltman were blocked by the PSV defense.

Ajax sealed the win and captured the first prize of the season in the traditional opening of the Dutch soccer year. In addition, Ajax also gave a signal that even without Frenkie de Jong, who left for FC Barcelona, and Matthijs de Ligt, who moved to Juventus, Ajax are favorite to become Dutch champions again.

Next weekend the 2019/2020 Eredivisie season starts with the first match round.
