Tri-colored glazed pottery technique inheritor Gao Shuiwang checks an unglazed pottery at a workshop in Nanshishan Village of Mengjin County in Luoyang City, central China's Henan Province, July 23, 2019. Sancai, or tri-colored glazed pottery, is made of white clay and coated with a layer of glaze. The producing technique of Sancai, which prevailed in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), was very complex and listed as one of China's National Intangible Heritages in 2008. Gao Shuiwang, a 61-year-old master craftsman, has been devoting himself over the past four decades to studying and making fine Tang Sancai. As one of the few who has mastered the essence of making the pottery, Gao earned the title of an inheritor of making Tang Sancai. Some of his creations have not only won awards, but also been collected by about 50 museums at home and abroad. To better pass on the making techniques of this Chinese art form, Gao has endeavored to receive and train apprentices. He also launched a museum to protect and promote the antique form of the Chinese cultural heritage. "I hope more Tang Sancai enthusiasts can join me to pass on the techniques from generation to generation," said Gao. (Xinhua/Li An)
