WASHINGTON, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Australian third-seeded Alex de Minaur grabbed the ATP trophy, after securing a 6-3, 7-6 (7/2) triumph over second-seeded Taylor Fritz of the United States on Sunday.

The 20-year-old Australian rising star dominated the court in perfect form despite the groin injury before which costed his two-month to recover.

"I felt like I really needed this. To start the year with a bang and then be slowed down by injuries... you expect your level to be right there once you come back, but you have to slowly grind your way back," he said.

"I don't think I could start the American hardcourt season any better than this," he added. "I'm happy with where I am and enjoying every day."

De Minaur defeated elite American Reilly Opelka in the semi-final on Saturday to advance into the final as the youngest ever player. Winning the final made him the third player to capture an ATP title without facing a break point since 1991, following German Tommy Haas and American John Isner.
