BRATISLAVA, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Only three teams from the Slovak football premier league (Fortuna Liga - Bratislava, Zilina and Dunajska Streda) have managed to win both of their matches in the new season.
After winning their first leg game of the second round of the Europa League Qualifiers against KF Feronikeli on Wednesday, the reigning champions from Bratislava defeated Michalovce without much effort 3-0 on Saturday. The Moroccan-born striker Moha assisted on Erik Daniel's goal in the first half and set the final score himself in the second.
Dunajska Streda made up for their Europa League Qualifiers loss against Greek team Atromitos from Athens on Thursday with a dominant win over FK Pohronie, 5-1. The home team's striker Kristopher Vida scored twice against the newcomers of Fortuna Liga who are still waiting for their first league point.
Spartak Trnava was also burdened by their Europa League Qualifiers loss on Thursday and it showed on Zilina's turf. Thus, the home team succeeded in repaying Trnava for losing in the Slovak Cup finals in May. Zilina built a two-goal lead in the first half, never allowed the guests from Trnava to mount a comeback and triumphed 4-2.
The regional derby between Nitra and the nearby town of Zlate Moravce ended in favor of the guests 1-0. Martin Valovcan's attempt was deflected by Nitra's midfielder Frederik Bilovsky into his own net.
Trencin was close to being relegated from Fortuna Liga last season and is determined not to repeat this scenario this time around. After a first-round loss, they gained their first point of the new season on Saturday after a 1-1 draw against Ruzomberok. Keston Julien's early goal for Trencin from inside the box was answered by Stefan Gerec's lob ten minutes later.
Filip Pankarican's goal in the 87th minute broke the 1-1 tie in Sered to tip the scales in the home team's favor. Sered defeated Senica 2-1 in their first triumph of the season.
