NAIROBI, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed said on Monday that Kenya will be ready to host the 2020 World Under-20 Championships in Nairobi.

Following a visit by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) delegates, there have been concerns that Kenya may have fallen behind schedule on its preparations. However, Mohamed said on Monday, most of the renovation will be in place by the time the IAAF delegation return to Nairobi at the end of the year for another tour.

"We are working on it. The steering committee has had several meetings and most of the renovation works that were done in 2017, when Nairobi staged the World Under-18 event are still good. What was not done then was quality work and we still have time and resources to finish up before the deadline of November set by the Local Organising Committee," said Mohammed in Nairobi.

IAAF team that was led by executive director of communications Jackie Brock-Doyle, raised their concerns in the tour of Nairobi, but Mohamed is adamant the country will work overtime to meet the schedule. The IAAF World Under-20 Championships Nairobi 2020 has been scheduled for July 7-12, 2020. Enditem
