LONDON, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 2.34 percent, or 177.81 points, to close at 7,407.06 points.
International Consolidated Airlines Group, an Anglo-Spanish multinational airline holding company, soared 8.39 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Fresnillo and Flutter Entertainment increased by 0.86 percent and 0.74 percent, respectively.
Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a banking and financial services company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.54 percent. Antofagasta, a copper mining company, dropped 6.25 percent. Melrose Industries, a London-based company that specialises in buying and improving underperforming businesses, fell 6.17 percent.
