HOHHOT, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Fifty-six embroidery workers in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region created a 70-meter-long embroidery scroll to highlight ethnic unity, as the People's Republic of China (PRC) celebrates its 70th anniversary.

The scroll is 70 meters long, symbolizing the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, and 1.949 meters high, marking the year of the nation's founding, according to the artists.

The dark green embroidered cloth symbolizes the prairie and ecological civilization, and the 56 characters that gather at Tian'anmen Square in the painting are from the 56 ethnic groups in China.

The fine artwork took the artists more than half a year to finish, including the first two months of designing on a computer and four months of manual embroidery work.

"The artists come from different ethnic groups including the Mongolian, Han and Manchu," said Gegeentuyaa, 35, a needlewoman involved in the artwork.
