WARSAW, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Serbian women's volleyball team has celebrated a stunning victory in Wroclaw over hosts Poland to secure a ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Before a capacity home crowd, Serbia gave an impressive and confident performance beating Poland 3-1 in four sets 21-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-23 on Sunday.
The victory completes its sweep through Pool A of the intercontinental qualifying tournament following their triumphs in Wroclaw against Thailand and Puerto Rico.
Poland will again seek a spot in Tokyo at the European qualifiers next year. Thailand took 3rd place beating Puerto Rico 3-1 in the last round.
A total of 24 teams have been competing at various venues around the world in the qualifiers as they battle for a direct qualification at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
The FIVB Men's qualification games will run under the same format from August 9. As hosts, Japan qualifies automatically.
