LONDON, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.72 percent, or 52.16 points, to close at 7,171.69 points.
Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a banking and financial services company, soared 1.70 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Spirax-Sarco Engineering and Ferguson increased by 1.29 percent and 1.26 percent, respectively.
Rolls-Royce Holdings, a Britain-based engineering company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.87 percent.
