BEIRUT, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces said on Tuesday that his army lacks capacity of controlling all the country's borders, the National News Agency reported.

According to the commander Joseph Aoun, the Lebanese army only controls 80 percent of the borders.

"What is preventing us from controlling all borders is the non-demarcation of borders with Syria and the overlapping of geographic areas," Aoun said during an opening ceremony for a new road in the northern town of Qaa.

The army's big responsibility for preserving internal security, the halt of recruitment in military institutions, and the reduction of the army's budget also complicate the task of effectively controlling the borders, he added.
