VILNIUS, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda approved on Wednesday the country's government, with three ministers out of 14 being changed.

The renewed cabinet will have a new minister of transport and communications, a new interior minister and a new head of agriculture ministry.

"The task for this government is to ensure continuity and transparency of its work," Nauseda said in a statement.

The Lithuanian president noted he wants the country's government to complete its tasks with around one year left to go to Lithuania's parliamentary election.

"The ruling coalition has made many promises, that need to be delivered," said Nauseda.

Approval of the country's government was needed following election of the Lithuanian president in May.

According to the Lithuanian Constitution, the country's prime minister has to hand back a government's mandate to a new president and receive his approval to continue its work. A Lithuanian president also decides on every member of a Cabinet.

Three seats in the cabinet has been changed following negotiations between the ruling Farmers and Greens Union and its political allies at the country's parliament.

The ministries of the transport and communications and the interior will be headed respectively by MP Jaroslav Narkevic and MP Rita Tamasuniene, both being members of the party Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania-Christian Families Alliance.

The agriculture ministry will be headed by MP Andrius Palionis, a member of the Social Democratic Labor Party.

The government will now face a confidence vote at the country's parliament.

The country's opposition has criticized the changes, saying the country "would have a lower quality Cabinet".

"Instead of a promised breakthrough we will have a government of stagnation and downturn administration," Gabrielius Landsbergis, the leader of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats, the country's largest opposition party, was quoted as saying in a press release. Enditem
