RIYADH, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday the arrival of all foreign pilgrims via all borders, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Director-General of Passports, Sulaiman Al Yahya, told a press conference in Jeddah that the number of pilgrims climbed until Wednesday afternoon to 1.8 million.
He said that 1.7 million pilgrims arrived by air while 95,634 arrived by land and 17,250 by sea, noting trained manpower and up-to-date technology were used to expedite procedures for pilgrims.
