TEHRAN, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Thursday urged Bahrain to adopt "a constructive approach" in dealing with maritime security in the Gulf.
In a statement on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi condemned Bahrain government's move to host a recent "anti-Iran" conference on maritime security.
Mousavi denounced what he called "suspicious and provocative meetings" in Manama as well as "accusations" against Iran by Bahrain's Foreign Ministry.
Such meetings "endanger stability and security in the Gulf and pave the way for interference of foreign countries," said the Iranian spokesperson.
Mousavi also urged the Bahraini officials to adopt a constructive approach instead of "paving the ground for the realization of common enemies' demands and plots."
He stressed that the security of all the regional countries is closely intertwined.
On July 31, Bahrain hosted a conference on the Gulf maritime security, amidst oil tankers seizures by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz and adjacent waters, as well as tensions soaring between Iran and the United States.
