TORONTO, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Rafael Nadal, who booked a berth in the ATP Montreal tournament, expects the second straight Canadian title following his lucky chance to see his French opponent Gael Monfils withdraw from his scheduled semifinal due to ankle injury.

The top-seeded player advanced to the final without a duel in Saturday's match and the Frenchman was in need of treatment as he sprained his ankle in a victorious match with Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2) in the quarterfinal.

Nadal, the 19-time Grand Slam singles champion, will expect his second straight Canadian crown on Sunday when he confronts eighth-seeded Daniil Medvedev, who beat sixth-seeded fellow Russian Karen Khachanov 6-1, 7-6 (6).
