BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Prices of farm produce in China slightly increased last week, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce.
From Aug. 5 to 11, the overall price of farm produce edged up 1.8 percent on a weekly basis, following a 0.1-percent increase in the previous week.
In breakdown, the average wholesale price of 30 types of vegetables went up 2.7 percent.
The wholesale prices of pork and beef edged up 5.7 percent and 1.8 percent, respectively, and that of mutton rose 2.9 percent.
Food accounts for about one-third of China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation.
The latest official data showed China's CPI rose 2.8 percent in July fueled by higher fruit and pork prices.
