Chinese-subtitled trailer released for new film adaption of "Little Women"

BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- An official trailer with Chinese subtitles has been released for "Little Women," the eighth feature film adaption of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel of the same name, according to the official Weibo account of production company Columbia Pictures on Wednesday.

Directed by Greta Gerwig, a 36-year-old American actress, screenwriter and film director, the upcoming drama movie tells of four sisters coming of age in America in the aftermath of the Civil War.

Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothee Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee March, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

It is set to be theatrically released in the United States on Dec. 25, 2019.
