QUITO, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadorian police seized half a ton of cocaine during an operation in the southern province of El Oro, the attorney general's office said on Tuesday.
The police also arrested seven people and confiscated two safe deposit boxes, weapons and mobile phones during the operation in the El Guabo Canton city, said the prosecution on Twitter.
As of July this year, Ecuadorian police have seized 50 tons of illicit drugs in various operations around the country and arrested some 6,942 suspects, according to official data. Enditem
