PARIS, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Both Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele finished a brace to help Lyon thrash Angers 6-0 at home, winning as many as two matches into new season's Ligue 1 on Friday.

Lyon, who had finished third last season, fully displayed their firepower in the offensive end with nine league goals so far. Houssem Aouar and new recruit Jean Lucas also found the net.

Young midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who had made a move from Angers on Wednesday, was not included in Lyon's squad against his former club.

After Lyon players pressed high to intercept the ball, Aouar dribbled before firing it past goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle in the 11th minute.

Dembele held off Angers defender Mateo Pavlovic to beat Butelle in the 36th minute. Depay established a three-goal lead for the hosts into the halftime after seeing his low shot go through between the goalie's two legs.

Aouar teed up Depay again early in the second half with a clever lob, and the Dutch cooly side-footed the ball into the net three minutes after the restart.

Dembele also harvested his second goal of the match by making the most of opponents' defensive error with 25 minutes remaining.

Lucas, having joined from Flamengo during the summer transfer window, made no mistake on Depay's cut-back for his maiden goal in the Lyon jersey, curtaining down Lyon's scoring exhibition of the night.

Marseille hope to bounce back from their first round defeat in Saturday's trip to Nantes, while Monaco visit promoted sides Metz with the same intention.

On Sunday, defending champions Paris Saint-Germain will face Rennes in a repeat of last season's French Cup final.
