Greek, Portuguese swimmers win 2019 LEN Open Water Cup

SKOPJE, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Greece's Athanasios Charalampos Kynigakis and Angelica Andre of Portugal respectively won the men's and women's 10km swimming races at the 2019 LEN Open Water Cup held on Sunday at Lake Ohrid, in southwest North Macedonia.

Kynigakis came first in the men's category with a winning time of 1:47:04, followed by Hungary's Daniel Szekelyi with 1:47:08, and Yuval Safra of Israel with 1:47:09.

In the women's race, Andre secured the win in a time of 1:55:47. Italy's Ginevra Taddeucci came second in 1:55:48, with Angela Maurer of Germany third in 1:57:20.

Twenty male and seven female swimmers from nine European countries and regions competed in the event, which was jointly organized by the European Swimming League (LEN) and the Swimming Federation of North Macedonia.
