TUNIS, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Leaders of blocs at the Tunisian parliament said Monday that they will devote a plenary session on Aug. 22 to debate the amendment of the election law in a bid to shorten the period of electoral challenges.
The session's objective is to respect the constitutional deadline of the provisional presidential term, according to the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).
Abdelfattah Mourou, interim president of the Assembly of People's Representatives, called on bloc leaders to fulfill their constitutional duty and protect the democratic transition.
Seventy-seven deputies had submitted a request to the parliament bureau to hold an extraordinary session for election law amendments. Enditem
