BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following is a list of major shows, concerts, exhibitions and events in China Friday, Aug. 23:

-- Vertebra theater: "Momo"

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: National Center for the Performing Arts, Beijing

A girl appears in the city. Her name is Momo. Nobody knows her age, her background, where she comes or where she goes. She and a group of time thieves provoke a battle of time.

The play, a China-German co-production, is adapted from German writer Michael Ende's novel of the same name, which was published in 1973 and has won the German Youth Literature Award. The novel reflects on time in a poetic way: we spend too little time for ourselves and our lives, and the increasingly busy daily life has taken too much for human nature and value.

-- Musical "Tegami"

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: The Great Theater of China, Shanghai

The play, based on Japanese author Keigo Higashino's novel of the same name, tells the story of two brothers who have lost their parents. Takeshi is injured at work and loses his job. In order to raise money for his younger brother Naoki, Takeshi commits a crime and is sentenced to life in prison but sends a letter each month to his brother.

However, his letter brings endless misfortune to Naoki, who has no choice but to break off his relationship with Takeshi.

The musical will be staged in Shanghai from Aug. 22 to 25.

-- Play "Du Fu"

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: The Capital Theater, Beijing

Produced by the Beijing People's Art Theater, the play tells the vicissitudes of the life of Du Fu, a Tang Dynasty (618-907) poet.

Du Fu is a familiar name to Chinese people as a talented poet but less known is his life experience. What he was pursuing and aiming for will be shown on the stage.
