BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- "The Bravest," the first film dedicated to Chinese firefighters, has grossed a total of 1.5 billion yuan (211 million U.S. dollars) on the Chinese mainland in the 21 days since its Aug. 1 debut, according to the China Movie Data Information Network on Thursday.
Based on a real fire accident and starring Huang Xiaoming, it tells of a fire brigade chief and his team members' dedicated fight for people's safety as fire and an ensuing explosion hit a coastal oil tank area.
As of Wednesday, "The Bravest" ranked 29th on the box office chart covering all the films ever screened on the Chinese mainland.
