HOHHOT, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the country's major milk-producing area, has released a plan to upgrade its dairy industry, aiming to see its annual production of raw milk reach 10 million tonnes by 2025.

The region will work to promote the construction of first-class bases for forage and milk sources, leading the development of the country's dairy industry, according to the plan.

The plan also said Inner Mongolia would issue preferential financial and land use policies for dairy companies and encourage them to develop digital farms.

Inner Mongolia recorded more than 2.3 million cows in stock and an output of over 6.9 million tonnes of raw milk in 2018, both among the largest in China.

In last June, China unveiled guidelines to modernize its dairy industry, aiming to reach world-leading levels in milk supplies, dairy processing and quality, and industrial competitiveness by 2025.
