NAIROBI, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Kenya has ended training ahead of their first leg match against Malawi in the second round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic women football qualifiers in Lilongwe.

Buoyed by a 3-2 win over Ethiopia in a friendly match, Kenya's head coach David Ouma is optimistic to build on the result and overcome the challenge from Malawi and boost their hopes of making a debut at the Olympic Games in 2020.

Ouma says he is happy with the two-week preparations and will present a formidable side to tame Malawi in their own backyard.

"We managed a 3-2 win over Ethiopia last weekend and it is now all set for the first leg set to be played on Wednesday, August 28.

"We were quite vulnerable in defense in our friendly match against Ethiopia and this is what we have been working on in training. I am confident we will be stronger at the back and that way, we can have possibilities of even getting a winner," Ouma said on Saturday.

The Kenya women national team, the Harambee Starlets, is due to depart for Malawi on Sunday morning.

The second leg is slated for September 1 in Nairobi. Winner of the match on aggregate will face either of Ghana or Gabon in the third round.
