China's top legislature ratified the extradition treaty with Vietnam, which was signed by both sides in 2015.
BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislature on Monday approved a China-Vietnam extradition treaty.
The 22-article extradition treaty covers issues such as extradition obligations, offenses eligible for extradition, reasons that can and should be used to refuse extradition, and the settlement of disputes.
Authorized by the State Council, the Chinese negotiation team was made up of officials from various departments and started talks with the Vietnamese side in October 2013. The two sides signed the treaty on April 7, 2015 in Beijing.
The treaty was submitted on Aug. 22 to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the top legislature, for review at its ongoing bimonthly session.
