BANGKOK, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered for the people's poverty to be analyzed on provincial basis, said government spokesperson Naruemon Pinyosinwat on Thursday.

The prime minister has ordered authorities to conduct analysis on the poverty of the people in each of the provinces nationwide, Naruemon said. Under the policy to combat poverty and reduce social inequality, the government will use conclusions of the analysis for each province to address its poverty issue "at the right spot," she said.

Among a total of 77 provinces throughout the country, 20 provinces have been found to have a "weak economy" and 12 others found to be "trapped in poverty," according to the government spokesperson.

The people in those provinces are to have their occupations, vocational skills and quality of life upgraded and to be provided jobs and access to financial sources, among other government assistance measures, she said.
