Tokyo stocks advance in morning as trade concerns ease

TOKYO, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks rose Friday morning after inheriting a solid lead from Wall Street overnight as investor concerns over trade issues and a further escalation eased.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 240.57 points, or 1.18 percent, from Thursday to 20,701.50.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 15.85 points, or 1.06 percent, at 1,506.02.

The majority of industry categories gained, with oil and coal product, securities house and precision instrument-linked issues comprising notable advancers by the morning break.
