WINDHOEK, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Namibian football interim coach Bobby Samaria on Friday announced his final 23-man squad that will travel to Asmar in Eritrea on Sunday, Sept. 4 to face Eritrea in the first round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The team selection was not easy given the absence of some players, the interim coach said Friday.

"We have players missing with injuries and some on trials across the world. Petrus Shitembi is in Germany and Densil Haoseb in Morocco for trials and hence unavailable for the game," he said.

The coach added that the final 23 are aware of the challenge ahead and he strongly believes they can do the job.

"Surely I believe the boys can do the job. Some players are unattached and this also gives them the platform to raise their hands and maybe get noticed for their immense talent," Samaria added.

The Namibian squad will depart on Sept. 1 to Asmara, Eritrea and the match will take place Sept. 4, with the return leg slated for Sept. 10 in Windhoek at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
