HONG KONG, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The latest on protest disruption of Hong Kong airport (all times local):

Rioters set fire on road blocks in Tung Chung, a transit hub near the Hong Kong Internationa Airport. Some were seen spraying inflammable liquid on the road.

Riot police arrived in Tung Chong and began dispersing protesters and making arrests.

The crowd broke up. Many rioters ran from Tung Chung toward Sunny Bay, about 13 kilometers away.

Radical protesters vandalized facilities and the control room of Tung Chung metro station. They also sprayed dishwashers to make the floor slippery. Passengers had to flee from the station.

The station had to close because of extensive vandalism, Metro Corporation, operator of Hong Kong's metro system announced.

Metro and bus lines to and fro Tung Chung were paralyzed by protesters. Many protesters along with residents were stranded in the area without transport.

Radical protesters began retreating to Tung Chung, a transit hub near the airport.

Some radical protesters threw rocks onto the tracks of the Airport Express. Metro Corporation had to annouce the suspension of all Airport Express service to the airport.

An elderly man fought with protesters near the railway tracks. Protesters pinned him on the ground.

Radical protesters started to charge water-filled barriers, pointed laser beams at the airport authority staff, and blocked roads with trolleys and mills barriers.

Violent acts by the radical protesters caused severe traffic conjestion to the airport. Many passengers had to get off vehicles and walked for miles with luggage to catch their flight.

As more riot police arrived, some protesters swarmed onto buses in the terminal to take leave.

More black-clad protesters gathered in the airport. Hundreds of protesters were shouting slogans. Riot police arrived to prevent protesters from entering the flight terminal.

MTR Corporation announced suspension of parts of the airport express at the request of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government and the airport.

Radical protesters began vandalize gate machines and other equipments of Tsing Yi metro station, a transit hub to the airport.

The airport is under the protection of a interim conjuction issued by the High Court of HKSAR, banning protests in the airport and attempts to block traffic to the airport.

The conjunction was first issued on Aug. 13 when protests wreaked havock in the airport and forced the cancellation of about 1000 flights. It was renewed on Aug. 23 as calls for more disruptions of the airport are rampant on the internet.

Protesters began gathering around the bus terminal of the Hong Kong International Airport.

Public gatherings are banned in the airport by a court order following massive protests forced the cancellation of about 1000 flights in mid-August.

The police had previously warned against any attempt to disrupt the airport.
