TEHRAN, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry on Sunday strongly condemned the deadly airstrikes on a Yemen prison by the Saudi-led coalition.
In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that "the bombardment of the detention center was the latest war crime committed by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen."
The Saudi-led coalition commits these "crimes" by using U.S. and other western countries' weapons, Mousavi said, adding that Yemeni people hold the United States and some western countries "responsible for these crimes."
At least 50 prisoners of war were killed when the Saudi-led coalition launched a series of airstrikes overnight on a prison in Yemen's central province of Dhamar, the Houthi-controlled health ministry said in a statement early Sunday morning.
