JAKARTA, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Indonesia accelerated at a faster pace in August to its highest level since December 2017, but it remained within the government’s target.
The Central Statistics Bureau (BPS) announced on Monday that Indonesia’s annual inflation rate touched 3.49 percent in August year-over-year, compared with 3.32 percent in presiding month.
The annual core inflation, excluding administered prices and volatile food prices, drifted up 3.30 percent in August from 3.18 percent in July, head of the bureau Kecuk Suhariyanto revealed.
The annual inflation in August still on the target range of the country’s central bank of 2.5 to 4.5 percent this year. On Friday the central bank governor Perry Warjiyo disclosed that the inflation will come below 3.5 percent at this year end.
