Eco China: Ecological Environment Development in Qinghai

Qinghai, home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, takes on a new look on ecological environment.

BEIJING, Sept. 3, 2019 (Xinhua) -- Qinghai Province, located in northwest China, much of which lies on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is the home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers.

With a population of 6 million and an area of 720,000 square kilometers, the province has taken on a new look on its ecological environment with efforts spent on environmental improvement. In the past five years Qinghai has poured over 10 billion yuan (1.4 billion U.S. dollars) into ecological protection and restoration of roads and other transportation projects.

The Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition holds Qinghai Day event from Sept. 1 to 3.
