SHENZHEN, China, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- France battered Jordan 103-64 to advance to the last 16 of the 2019 FIBA World Cup along with fellow Group G side the Dominican Republic.

France was comfortably ahead 50-33 at half-time and rammed home the advantage in the second quarter against an outclassed Jordan side.

France kept scoring easy baskets in the second half and at one point held a lead of 42 points.

The French side nailed 12 out of 19 three-pointers for 63 percent, while also out-assisting Jordan 26-11.

As expected, the defensive presence of Rudy Gobert was a huge difference in stifling Jordan's offense. Jordan's center Ahmad Al Dwairi only scored six, having contributed 34 points last time out against the Dominican Republic.

The game-changing defensive prowess of reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year Gobert looks set to an asset weapon for France in this campaign. Also voted Player of the Game, Gobert needed 22 minutes to collect a huge double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Guard Nando De Colo led the scoring for France, notching 19 points.

Dar Tucker made a team-high 20 points for Jordan, while Zied Abass, formerly of several Chinese clubs, added 12 points and seven rebounds.
