KUNMING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province have captured a suspected drug-trafficker and seized over 2 kg of drugs, local authorities said Thursday.
On Sept. 2, Xuanlai border police in the China-Myanmar border city of Lincang caught a suspect during a routine patrol and seized four bags of methamphetamine weighing 2.912 kg from the suspect's suitcase.
The suspect said he was asked to bring the drugs by a stranger outside the country, who promised to pay him 50,000 yuan (6,998 U.S. dollars) if successful.
Further investigation into the case is under way.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
