NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah have created Colombian history as they defeated Marcel Granollers of Spain and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina in straight sets to win their second straight Grand Slam title at the US Open on Friday.
After becoming the first players from their nation to lift a men's doubles Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in July, the top seeds overpowered their opponents 6-4, 7-5 in the one-hour, 31-minute encounter for the title.
The Colombian pairing drops one set en route to the title and they dominated the final by firing 32 winners.
Playing at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, both teams held their opening four service games in the first set. But in the ninth game, Cabal and Farah stepped up their game to break their opponents and then held serve to take the first set 6-4.
The second set was still tight, with Cabal and Farah being broken first. The Columbian team stayed calm and broke back twice to secure the set at 7-5.
