Craftsman spent 16 years developing traditional silk technique

After making craft works with traditional Kesi technique for 16 years, Zhang Lei has brought this traditional technique to a new stage.


NANJING, Sept. 8, 2019 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Lei, a 35-year-old craftsman, has been dedicated to Kesi, one of traditional Chinese silk tapestry making method, for 16 years.

Zhang established his own studio in Nanjing of east China's Jiangsu Province in 2012, and applied the traditional Kesi technique on moon-shaped fans, framed decorative pictures and pouches.

With the crafts favored by many people, Zhang gains strong motivation to carry on this career.
