BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the communications equipment and Internet of Things (IOT) sectors leading the gain.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index increased 0.84 percent to close at 3,024.74 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.82 percent higher at 10,001.93 points.
The combined trading volume of stocks in the two indexes expanded to 716 billion yuan (about 101.06 billion U.S. dollars) from 634 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Most stocks climbed, with gainers outnumbering losers by 1,328 to 118 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,965 to 132 in Shenzhen.
Communications equipment makers were among the companies that gained the most. Eastcompeace Technology Co., Ltd. surged by the daily 10-percent limit to 17.11 yuan.
Companies in IOT sectors mostly gained, with the share price of Shanghai Yanhua Smartech Group Co., Ltd. jumping by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 4.03 yuan per share.
Meanwhile, companies related to port operations and animal husbandry led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.42 percent to close at 1,733.23 points.
