TOKYO, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher Thursday as investor sentiment continued to improve on recent moves leading to concerns over trade issues to recede somewhat.
In the opening minuets after the morning bell, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 174.64 points, or 0.81 percent, from Wednesday to 21,772.40.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.86 points, or 0.43 percent, at 1,590.52.
Air transportation, machinery and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in early play.
