BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Eight revolutionary sites and a newly built museum opened to the public on Friday in the western suburbs of Beijing.
The eight revolutionary sites, including Shuangqing Villa where Comrade Mao Zedong worked and lived, are in the Fragrant Hills Park. They have undergone renovation since last year.
On March 23, 1949, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Comrade Mao Zedong left Xibaipo, a revolutionary base of the CPC in Hebei Province, for Beijing. Two days later, they moved to the Fragrant Hills, making it the seat of the CPC Central Committee at that time.
An exhibition on the history of the CPC Central Committee during that period is held in the Fragrant Hills revolutionary memorial museum.
The exhibition displays about 800 photos and 1,200 cultural relics, including two large red lanterns and 10 salute guns used during the founding ceremony of New China, said Tang Kaiwen, executive deputy curator of the museum.
