Danish tennis protege leaps up ITF rankings with victory

COPENHAGEN, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Clara Tauson, Denmark's rising teenage tennis protege made a huge leap up the world rankings with her victory in an ITF tournament in Israel earlier Saturday.

The 16-year-old Tauson ranked 302 in the world, won a combative three-set final over second-seeded Katharina Hobgarski from Germany, ranked 200.

The Israeli tournament gives Tauson 80 invaluable points and elevates her up the world female single ranking to number 235.

The victory comes as a massive confidence boost. Tauson's last victory in Xiamen, China was in March.
