BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, adopted a decision on conferring national medals and honorary titles at its closing session on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the decision, the Medal of the Republic, the Friendship Medal and national honorary titles are awarded to 42 outstanding individuals for their contributions to the People's Republic of China (PRC) as the PRC celebrates its 70th founding anniversary this year.
