SINGAPORE, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.51 percent, or 16.16 points, to close at 3,166.84.
A total of 905.12 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 914.04 million Singapore dollars (about 664.76 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 196 to 166.
The STI index went down 0.65 percent, or 20.93 points, to close at 3,183.00 Tuesday.
