Bhadauria named as new Indian Air Force chief

NEW DELHI, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria will be the new chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), a spokesman of the Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

Bhadauria will succeed the incumbent Birender Singh Dhanoa, who retires at this month end.

"Govt. has decided to appoint Air Marshal R.K.S. Bhadauria, presently the Vice Chief of Air Staff as the next Chief of the Air Staff," tweeted the Principal Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence.

Bhadauria is a much decorated IAF officer, as he has been awarded with medals by the Indian government during his past service.

He was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of the IAF in June 1980, and has held various Command, Staff and Instructional appointments at various levels including the present one as Vice Chief of the IAF.
