A performance of "The Peony Pavilion", a masterpiece of China's ancient Kunqu Opera, was presented by the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Theatre in the Hague on Thursday. As a part of the Jiangsu Cultural and Tourism Carnival, the performance was staged here to introduce the charming art of Kunqu Opera, one of the oldest forms of opera in China, which was placed on the list of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2001. Unique in the performance is the collaboration with Dutch modern dance company the Groundbreakers in the classic scene "A Surprising Dream."
