HOUSTON, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- An explosion and fire erupted Saturday at a chemical plant in southeast Texas, the United States, and no one was injured in the incident.
The Celanese Corporation said the explosion and fire erupted in the carbon monoxide unit at its plant in the Clear Lake area of Pasadena, about 40 km southeast of downtown Houston, and no individuals were harmed during the explosion and subsequent fire.
"At this time, the fire has been stopped; the incident is under control, and cleanup is underway," the company said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the local emergency management office posted message on Facebook, saying "there is no need for a shelter in place" in the neighboring city of La Porte.
The cause of the incident is being investigated.
The information on its website showed that with its headquarters in Dallas, Texas, Celanese Corporation provides materials that are critical to the global chemicals and paints and coatings industries from the global production network of its Acetyl Chain.
