NANNING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The successful experience of regional economic cooperation among China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is worth learning, World Bank Vice President Hua Jingdong told Xinhua Saturday.

China has become a partner of the international financial institution to work with other developing countries, Hua said in Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, where the 16th China-ASEAN Expo kicked off Saturday.

The expo is a bright mark and also a competitive edge of Guangxi, through which China and ASEAN have developed regional economic cooperation rapidly, said Hua.

Trade between China and ASEAN has been increasing with the improvement of infrastructure, Hua said.

On the areas in which China could develop with ASEAN, Hua said the implementation process of projects comes first. China has rich experience in cooperating with international financial institutions in building roads, sewage disposal, among other projects.

The World Bank is willing to cooperate with China in such areas as infrastructure construction, including the Belt and Road Initiative, which is fundamental to the development of other economic sectors, Hua added.

Hua said he is pleased to see China's commercial banks boom and go global. The World Bank and some Chinese commercial banks have many co-financed projects in Africa and these banks already have branches all over the world.

Hua also expressed his congratulations on the successful opening of the 16th China-ASEAN Expo, which is expected to attract a total of 2,848 enterprises from over 30 countries.

Themed "Building the Belt & Road, Realizing Our Vision for a Community of Shared Future", the four-day event will last until Tuesday.
