KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait unveiled on Sunday a new development plan for 2020-2025 which will focus on the human resources.

"The new development plan envisages a qualitative leap compared to the two previous schemes," Mariam Al-Aqeel, Kuwait's minister of state for economic affairs, said at a introduction meeting of the new plan in the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD).

Implementation of the first such plan had concluded and that of the second one remained in the execution phase, said the minister.

"Human resources' development is a significant basis in the third plan," she said, adding that it is the focus of all countries of the world.

"Kuwait has attached great importance to develop the human capital and seek to achieve it in cooperation with government institutions," she stressed.

"The third plan is characterized by containing international performance indicators and policies directed to human development that are used within the plan to improve our indicators at the international level," she explained.

The supreme council's Secretary-General Khaled Mahdi disclosed that the draft of the development plan has been finalized, noting that it will be submitted for discussion and approval.

"Investment in human capital is a long term plan," he said, pointing out that the third plan includes alignment with international indicators and with the sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations.

Meanwhile, Hamed Al-Eidan, the head of the government administration development department at GSSCPD, said that the third plan would enhance the participation of the private sector in the economy of Kuwait.
