BEIRUT, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Health Minister Jamil Jabak accused the United States on Friday of preventing the international community from supporting Lebanon in the medical sector, local media reported.

"The Americans are fighting medical programs offered by donor countries to Lebanon," Jabak was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.

Jabak added that the U.S. embassy did not issue him a visa to the United States and participate in the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

"I was supposed to explain to the audience at the UN about Lebanon's challenges in the health sector amid the high flow of Syrian refugees to the country," he said.

Jabak also accused the U.S. of threatening the World Health Organization (WHO) to not continue their financial contributions to the Lebanese Health Ministry but the WHO was not responsive to U.S. demands.

The United States has previously expressed great concerns after Hezbollah succeeded in controlling three of the 30 ministries in Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's new cabinet, including the Health Ministry which has the fourth largest budget in the state.
